THANK YOU THANK YOU for writing this. The idea that the loudest voices win in business (and beyond?) instead of the ones who have the most thoughtful perspective has been plaguing me more than usual these days. I work in the creator space and every day I vacillate between getting better at playing the thought leadership game as-is and giving up altogether. But knowing that there are others out there who are feeling the same way reminds me that there is a third option: to create something meaningful that actually adds value to a few people who see it, even if it gets buried in the algorithm because of lack of posting consistency.
Yes, exactly! They’ve gamified it to the point where chasing visibility feels like just “business as usual.” But the whole reason this conversation exists in the first place is because people genuinely want something to believe in, or someone to look up to, or someone to learn from.
But when you start performing your personality instead of expressing it, you're holding yourself to this completely unsustainable standard. And that's where the feeling of burnout and 'not being good enough' creeps in. The gap isn’t just between creators and consumers but also between intention and expectation.
Everyone’s stuck on this hamster wheel of chasing clout and cash, but the longer you stay in that cycle, the more everything starts to feel like a vacuum of...nothing. Just shitty hollow noises. I say, go for that third option, girl!
I'm so glad you shared this link. I started to copy passage after passage to share but couldn't decide on a favorite. Ultimately I think it's, "We don't have to live like this." Thanks for the wake-up call.
Resonate sooo much Christina. When i open Linkedin these days it’s flooded with freebie kinda posts and thought leadership. Most are lead gen baits. Craving for authentic povs, real connection. Thank u for writing this 🫶🏻
My head was nodding the whole time while reading this. DAMN, I know that we only know each other online, but I feel like I relate to you (and your thoughts) so dang much.

The pressure to drive more leads is slowly eating away at the trust people feel with one another, I swear!

It’s no wonder that we vibe so well together. Sharing the same brain!
